About this unit
This Open Universities Australia and Griffith University unit offers students the opportunity to explore journalism on a global scale. In some cases, you will explore quite specific topics, such as the differences between war journalism and peace journalism.
By studying this unit in International Journalism you will gain an understanding of the theoretical approaches to journalistic practices, and will also explore how journalism varies across cultures. To give you an in-depth insight into the specific regional differences, the unit will encourage you to nominate a region of your choice for further investigation.
As this is often referred to as the digital age, alternative media will not be ignored – you will be encouraged to develop an understanding of the nature and extent of implementation of alternative media approaches on an international basis. You will also explore the nature of relationships between a range of other social institutions and journalism.
