About this unit
This unit takes a look at the role of the writer and their responsibility as a conduit for stories. By studying this unit you will learn about the importance of language, genre and audience be able to apply these lessons across all your professional communications.
Delivered online by Open Universities Australia, in partnership with Curtin University, the unit does not focus on the grammatical and technical aspects of writing but instead introduces students to the creativity behind the writing process and what it is like to write across various genres.
With studies on the personal essay, the short story and the feature article, you are taken through the differences inherent in these writing formats and will learn to execute each mode to its greatest potential. The unit also addresses research methods including the interview, observations and library and internet research.
Students should also note that this unit contains adult themes. If you are under 16, you will need to complete a parental consent form, prior to enrolling in this unit.
