About this unit
Awarded by Griffith University through Open Universities Australia, Law, Government and Policy provides a foundation for the study of law. The role of institutions such as the High Court, parliament and executive government, and federal and state-level courts will be investigated and compared to systems around the world.
The online unit introduces key concepts underpinning Australian law and government, and looks at law made by different branches of administration. It also looks at the various ways in which politics and law intersect, and will give students an opportunity to critically analyse what justice means in contemporary Australian society. Additionally, students will learn about the constraints on efficient and effective law making in Australia.
International and comparative perspectives will be used to frame the topics in this unit and provide a base for thinking critically about the operation and fairness of law and government.
