About this unit
This online unit in the Sociology of Identity is the ideal platform from which to launch an exploration of identity, and the ways in which we develop a sense of self.
Delivered by Open Universities Australia, in partnership with Griffith University, the unit delves into contemporary debates surrounding identity, including the multitude of ways in which factors like sexuality, gender and class mould our development.
The unit also casts a light on more recent socio-cultural conditions, such as the internet, globalisation, mass consumption, global warming and terrorism, to explore how each of these factors intersects with our identity.
You’ll complete the unit with a broader, critical understanding of how everything from gender and ethnicity to race, religion, class and ultimately, time and place, coalesce to build the framework for identity.
