Contribute meaningfully to the lives of others with the Bachelor of Human Services (Ageing) from Torrens University Australia.
You’ll graduate from this course with both the specialised technical knowledge and the interpersonal skills and perspectives required to make a difference in the quality of life of older people. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to build your strategic capacity and leadership abilities to work in a way that will improve communities and influence human service policy.
In this course, you’ll study specific elements of aged care including dementia, frailty and end of life care, and build a strong understanding of human service provision generally, with a focus on the policies and circumstances that govern and shape health services. With a capstone unit available, you’ll have the opportunity to develop health policy in practice, building your professional skillset before leaving the classroom.
At graduation, you’ll be skilled in communication, advocacy, planning and critical thinking, and be capable of responding to complex human issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
Workload and assessment
In order to succeed in your studies, each subject in this course requires a combination of 120 hours of structured and self-directed learning, which equates to about 10 hours a week over 12-week trimesters.

To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the university’s minimum entry requirements.
- Have completed an Australian secondary education qualification, or equivalent; OR
- Have completed or partly completed a qualification at an associate degree-level or above; OR
- Have completed a VET qualification at certificate IV-level or above; OR
- Have a Special Tertiary Admission Test percentile rank or equivalent
Torrens University Australia also offers guaranteed entry to students who have achieved at least:
- An ATAR of 60 or equivalent; OR
- A GPA of 3.5 in a scale of 7 at another Australian university; OR
- A Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) rank of 155
All students are also required to demonstrate sufficient competency in English.
