The only course of its kind in Western Australia, this aeronautical technology course covers the science and technology of aviation, and positions students for careers in aviation science, aeronautics and engineering.
This qualification will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to work in aeronautical technology, including theoretical knowledge of aeronautical science and flight, and practical skills in teamwork, problem-solving and project management. You’ll build a foundation in maths, physics, engineering mechanics and design, and specialise your knowledge with subjects including aircraft systems, structures and aerodynamics.

This course also acts as a straightforward pathway to working professionally as an engineer — articulation may be available towards the Master of Engineering, allowing you to become qualified as a professionally accredited engineer with just two further years of study.
What you’ll need
You may be eligible to apply for this course at ECU if you meet the following requirements:
- Hold a minimum indicative of ATAR of 70 (or equivalent); OR
- Have undertaken a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) qualification at the appropriate level; OR
- Have previously completed units of study at University level; OR
- Hold a STAT result that meets ECU’s standard requirements; OR
- Have completed a bridging or enabling course; AND
- Meet ECU’s English Competency and special admission requirements (see below).
Please note that School Leaver applicants will require completion of WACE or equivalent.
If none of the above applies to you, but you have work and life experience, you may be eligible to apply via ECU’s Experience-Based Entry Scheme.
Special Admission Requirements: It is desirable that all applicants have passed Mathematics: Methods ATAR, with equivalents, considered, and Physics ATAR or Engineering Studies ATAR, with equivalents considered. Alternatively, applicants can complete bridging units during the first year of their studies, if required, if students have not passed one or more of these subjects.
