About the Course

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) offered by Insight Training is designed for individuals passionate about providing care and support to the ageing population. This course equips students with essential skills to deliver person-centred support to those in need, whether due to ageing, disability, or other circumstances. Participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that covers core competencies such as facilitating empowerment, supporting independence, and recognising healthy body systems, alongside elective units tailored to specific areas of interest within aged care.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, the course includes a practical component requiring a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an approved service. This hands-on experience is crucial for applying learned skills in real-world settings, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for various roles in the community. Career opportunities following completion of this qualification include positions such as Assistant in Nursing, Aged Care Worker, and Community Care Worker, making it a fulfilling pathway for those looking to make a positive impact in their communities. Enquire to learn more.

This course is delivered in-classroom at one of Insight Training’s campuses:

  • Joondalup (day classes available)
  • Rockingham (day and evening classes available)

120 hours of work placement is also required.

Please Note: This course is NOT available to people on a 500 or 600 visa.

Course Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is preferred that students have obtained a minimum of a School Certificate or equivalent.

To work in an aged care or disability environment, you must have a working with vulnerable people check and police clearance and, in some cases, up-to-date vaccinations.

Vaccinations will be based on the work placement’s policies and compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements. At minimum, you should be up-to-date with your flu vaccinations; other immunisations that may be required are for Covid-19 and Hepatitis B. If we have sourced work placement for you, we will advise the vaccination requirements.

The requirements around vaccinations and evidence might change while you’re studying with us. Changes will be in line with industry requirements and/or Australian Immunisation Guidelines.

Work Placement Requirements

Students are required to complete at least 120 recorded working hours in an Approved Service, enabling them to perform a variety of relevant work tasks. If students are not currently employed at an appropriate facility, Insight Training staff can assist in finding a suitable work placement.

All necessary resources will be provided to document the tasks completed and track the required placement hours. Additionally, a Trainer/Assessor will conduct a workplace visit to evaluate the skills necessary for this qualification.
