About the Course

The CHC50421 Diploma of Youth Work, offered by Skills Generation, is designed for individuals seeking to advance their careers in youth work. This qualification will equip learners with the knowledge and competencies necessary to operate effectively within community, government, and other agencies. Participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum that covers essential areas such as program development, case management, and the promotion of cultural safety, all aimed at addressing the diverse needs of young people aged 12 to 24.

This course not only prepares students for supervisory and management roles but also fosters critical skills in communication, problem-solving, and relationship building. With a focus on practical experience, learners are required to complete a minimum of 200 hours of work placement, ensuring they gain real-world insights into the youth work sector. The program is structured to be flexible, allowing for completion within 6 to 12 months, making it an ideal choice for those balancing work and study commitments.

Please note: A minimum of 200 hours mandatory work experience is required for this qualification. Work experience must be undertaken within a community services workspace. Learners who are in full-time employment in community services may be able to meet the work experience requirements through their current role. Talk to our trainer to review your work role prior to commencing the course to see if your workplace can be used to demonstrate the required competencies and satisfy work placement hours. Learners who are not currently employed in a relevant community services organisation will need to find their own work experience placement with an organisation approved by Skills Generation.
