The Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (AUR30320) offered by South Sydney College is a nationally recognised trade qualification designed for individuals looking to develop practical skills in automotive electrical and electronic systems. This course focuses on building the core knowledge and hands-on capability required to install, test, diagnose, and repair electrical systems used in modern vehicles.

Throughout the course, students gain experience working with wiring and lighting systems, starting and charging systems, ignition systems, and petrol and diesel engine management systems. Learning is delivered through a blend of classroom-based theory and practical workshop training, allowing students to apply diagnostic processes and use automotive electrical test equipment in real workshop environments.

To enrol, applicants must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Have sound language and literacy skills equivalent to Year 10 English
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Have access to required resources (see below)

There are no formal prerequisites.
