About Certificate Courses
In the Vocational Education and Training sector, there are a number of different options when it comes to qualifications. Certificate courses are where many students begin.
These courses offer introductory training and skills, both industry-specific and general (such as communication, literacy and numeracy skills). Certificate courses are offered on four different levels: Certificate I, II, III and IV. Certificate I courses involve foundational-level studies and things like pre-apprenticeship training.
Certificate II courses focus more on operational knowledge and skills, and can often be completed as part of a traineeship. Certificate III courses develop higher-level skills and provide expanded theoretical studies, and Certificate IV courses prepare graduates to work in areas requiring more complex skills. Some have no entry requirements, but some do require completion of a certain level of secondary schooling.
