A Quality Assessor audits and checks products, services, and systems against set quality frameworks. They work in regulated sectors such as healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, and public administration.
The role requires solid knowledge of quality management standards, in particular AS/NZS ISO 9001. Quality Assessors plan and run formal audits, analyse compliance data, and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies. They also manage corrective action processes to close compliance gaps.
Entry to the profession mostly requires a Diploma of Quality Auditing (BSB50920) from a TAFE or RTO. Senior roles often require ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification and several years of experience. Those who conduct third-party certification audits may need to register with JAS-ANZ.
Quality Assessors can progress to Quality Manager, Head of Compliance, or Audit Director roles. Future demand is strong across multiple sectors. Specialising in healthcare, aged care, or financial services compliance is a common path to senior positions.
