About the Course
The CHC40321 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, offered by Hader Institute of Education, is a nationally recognised qualification designed for those who want to build a meaningful career supporting children, young people, and families. Delivered entirely online over 12 months, the course combines weekly live trainer-led sessions via Zoom with flexible self-paced study, making it well suited to people balancing work, family, and other commitments. A guaranteed 120-hour work placement, coordinated through Hader’s partner SkilTrak, ensures learners gain practical, real-world experience in a child, youth, or family services setting before they graduate. The course covers a broad range of practice areas central to the community services sector. Learners develop skills in trauma-informed and strengths-based practice, risk identification and reporting, legal and ethical frameworks, and culturally safe engagement with people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The course also addresses communication and relationship-building, individual service planning, domestic and family violence response, out-of-home care, and working with children and young people experiencing complex trauma and attachment difficulties. Assessment draws on scenario-based activities, written tasks, case studies, role plays, and supervised placement hours. Learners are supported throughout by qualified trainers, a dedicated learner support officer, and monthly one-on-one mentoring, with job-readiness assistance available from the time they commence study.
