About VIC Government Supported Courses
TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in Victoria (VIC) authorised by the government deliver funded and subsidised courses. Although course fees are covered by government subsidies, additional costs like study materials, services, and textbooks may apply, as determined by the provider. Funding is directly allocated to the training institution.
The Victorian government subsidises various vocational qualifications, including certificate III, certificate IV, and advanced diploma programs. Accredited short courses for skill development and certificate II pre-apprenticeship pathways also receive government support to help students build practical career skills.
Enquire to check your funding eligibility
Eligible students can undertake subsidised courses online or on-campus. Not all education providers or courses receive subsidies, with some being fee-for-service, where full payment must be made by you or your employer.
Funding programs generally require you to be a Victorian resident and be one of the following: Australian citizen; or an Australian permanent resident; or a New Zealand citizen; and/or an eligible visa holder.
