Frequently Asked Questions
Can you become a project manager through TAFE?
Yes, a Diploma of Project Management is one pathway into the field and can be studied through TAFEs and RTOs. These courses typically run for around 2 years and are delivered online, which suits people balancing work and study. Completing a diploma gives you practical grounding in planning, scheduling and managing projects, often a stepping stone toward roles like project coordinator or project manager.
How much do project managers get paid in NSW?
Pay varies by state, experience and the type of project you manage. According to PayScale, a typical project manager salary in Australia sits in a broad range depending on seniority and industry. Entry-level coordinators generally earn less than experienced managers running large or complex projects. Location, sector and qualifications all play a part in final pay.
What is the best project management course in Australia?
There's no single best course, but a Diploma of Project Management is a common and well-recognised option for this field. Courses at this level are generally studied online over about 2 years through TAFEs and RTOs. The right fit depends on your goals, whether that's a straightforward Diploma of Project Management or a combined option like a Double Diploma of Project Management + Leadership & Management.
Is there a Certificate III in project management?
Project management in Australia is typically offered from Diploma level upward rather than at Certificate III. If you're looking at this page, the courses listed here are all Diploma level, usually taking around 2 years online through TAFEs and RTOs. If you want an entry point before a diploma, it may be worth exploring a broader project management pathway to compare options.
Are project management diploma courses government funded?
Government funding depends on the provider and the state you're in. Some project management diploma courses are government-funded or subsidised, while others aren't. You can see this listed against each course on this page, or enquire to check your eligibility directly with the provider.
